ANOTHER NEW GUY

Postby jeneli-john » October 9th, 2007, 6:04 pm

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm John from Oregon. My wife is Connie (jeneli). I am a retired Civil Engineer and own Dorum Creative Woodworking. My focus is high-end jewelry and keepsake boxes. I have 2 passions---woodworking and baseball gloves. I grew up in the California bay area and attended Skyline High School in Oakland where I was the varsity shortstop. During my graduation year, 1968, the Kansas City Athletics moved to Oakland. After an interview with Charlie Finley's brother, I was chosen as the first Oakland A's visiting team batboy (lots of great memories and some not so good). That summer I played semi-pro ball with the Berkeley Stars where I was scouted by the Cleveland Indians. A shoulder injury ended my baseball hopes. I enjoy the forum and look forward to learning more from the resident experts.

Hello and Welcome!

I have to say, two of my favorite gloves in my collection have come from you - a Sonnett Reno Bertoia and an OK Tex Hughson 3 finger. You have great taste!! :D

Hey Brett----I had a very hard time letting the Bertoia go. I was very pleased, however, that you got it and not Mickey Mango (AKA). I've been reorganizing my gloves lately and came across a Sonnett Bob Purkey in pretty good used condition (slightly worn label). Any interest???

Hi

I have a nice Bob Purkey but they made a couple of different models during the 60's so if it is one I don't have, yes I would definitely be interested. You can drop me an email at vintagebrett@yahoo.com if you decide to part with it.

The Bertoia glove is one of my absolute favorites - it is my background picture on my iPhone!
