Voila! Always like to see these little "ephemera" short-lived experiments. Gotta say, not many of them I bet.
Thanks Mike1

Joe will get a kick out of this. I found the 1959,60,61 Sears catalog pages of the "Shooting Star" Pro-Model glove. I PAID for the images yet the seller still decided to put their watermark across the pages, thanks so much for that. Anyway the 1959 catalog seems to be the one that introduces the "Shooting Star" glove for Sears, model 1664 for $18.97.

The 1960 catalog lists the glove as the model 1622. More lacing added and the outside fingerloop.

The 1961 catalog shows my glove, the 1629 model. It has the U-shaped heel.

So....marketing decisions were made by Sears, Wilson and Rawlings in 1960 (or 1959) to offer Rawlings Trapeze (mid to low end) and a Wilson type pro model (retail $22) which would
put it in the upper middle of Wilson's suggested retail of the time. Not sure this was repeated after 1960, possibly. Ted Williams was about to sign with Sears about this time, moving away
from Wilson and I'm sure a very lucrative sporting goods contract where he would have his name on a broad range of sporting goods products replacing the J. C. Higgins name. We do know some
decent Ted Williams gloves were made in the 1960s.
Sears was evidently going through a major shift in its sporting goods marketing philosophy.

Joe is right about the Ted Williams influence. Here is a 1962 catalog introducing the Ted Williams approved line of gloves. They may be MacGregor made gloves, at least the one piece continuous web looks like it.

Here is a 1963 catalog with more of the Ted Williams line.

here is the 1964 catalog.
