Worth buying this Wright Ditson mitt?

Postby ScottWNJ » July 2nd, 2017, 9:13 pm

I'm thinking of making an offer for this Wright Ditson catcher's mitt, but was hoping to get a little advice from
the experts here. Lacing is torn at the thumb and there is scuffing to leather in spots. There are words stamped
into the front: League (something). Its a private sale and not an eBay listing.
Can it be salvaged and what would be fair to offer? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's a "League Special" model. Looks like it needs some work, especially the perimeter lace and general clean up. The tag does not look great. If it is mostly unreadable, pass on it. $50 would be a good starting point if the tag is OK and considering you would need to put some work into the rehab. There was a really nice restored one that sold on ebay for $150 not long ago. There is also one a bit nicer than yours on ebay right now for $125. I had a "League Special" model at one time. Not top of the line but a good solid, well built mitt.

Thank you Mike.I passed on it. The seller put it up on eBay and it sold in an hour for $75.
