"1929 Willis Hudlin Fielder's Glove Worn as He Pitched Babe Ruth's 500th Home Run"

Apparently, Willis Hudlin hopped into his DeLorean to get a 1940's Doak glove to pitch to the Babe in his 500th home run game...in 1929. Very rare offering from HA indeed!

$2040 for a run-of-the-mill '40s Model H. Sad.

Would have been fun to see where this auction ended up. The seller got too many offers though and figured out he had something special. So now it's a BIN for $1100. SOLD!

actually what he did was pull the glove mid-way thru the auction. Seriously frowned upon by eBay (and some of us buyers).
Also, may have cost the seller some $$ as bidding was about to heat up (I know of 3 collectors who were about to get involved).
No class seller!!!

Yeah, we'll never know. Brett's ceiling bid was $3500. Mine was close to that.

My feelings about ending auctions early are well documented here so I won't get into that however I think that when these gloves are ended early it hurts our hobby as a whole. I think high dollar sales/items create a buzz that helps throughout the hobby. By not allowing the gloves to go to completion and seeing what the market bears, the buzz never happens. I'm in agreement that this mitt would have sold for a great deal more than the $1100 buy it now. Although, Mike, you may be off in the number of zeros in my ceiling bid. 8)

on ebay, Early Knockdown Baseball Glove 1880-1900 BIN $999
purported game used by Gary Wright, a New York Highlander player circa 1890
Wright was nicknamed "Dream Weaver" for his miraculous playing ability.
The glove is a bargain at double the price. These 19th century knock down models are super rare.

For a mere quarter million dollars, you can have this. Bargain at $150,000 if you have the patience to wait and hope that nobody else bids on it. But that is pretty risky!

The power of the forum! It is now down to a “reasonable” $25,000 BIN. With an opening bid of $15,000. Maybe another zero will drop off after this post.

Here's a link to an early catchers mitt for sale at $175 if anyone is interested. It is 9 3/4"H X 9"W. It seems pretty nice with the only flaws being the remnant of a buckle web and some pocket wear. I found it while surfing the web. It was on a booksellers website of all places. Tough to find these with the hook and grommet back so nicely intact. Most times it's just ripped up. The leather piping is a plus.

Yeah Murph, that Reach mitt you mention is pretty nice. Although not a buy it now, it will be interesting to see where it ends up.
