I like the Brazil license plate and color scheme on the Transporter. I would choose this '36 Ford soft top panel truck. Great color scheme. Just a light clean-up and sanding and a clear coat and it would turn a few heads.

I still think about that transporter. It has haunted me on more than one occasion. I don't know what I'd do with it though. I can't imagine it would survive more than a couple NE winters. It's clearly garaged in IL.

Rob, on the other hand, was unimpressed. I thought all you California guys were into rare VWs?

I haven't seen a Transporter in my area in years. they are rare. I was used to laying/sitting on the fenders working on the engines of my former U.S. made vehicles. When I got an old VW pop-top camper, working on it was another story altogether. You either love-em or hate-em. I wasn't sorry to see mine go.

I don't think I've ever seen one until this showed up at our local July 4th car show last summer.
It's a double cab model, which I'd think must be super rare.

That is super nice. Do you think it is stock or someone customized into an "extra cab" model combining parts from a van and a transporter bed. Either way, I love the look.

The crew cab was a factory model. That's a beauty.
