Older Glove Values

Postby Jim » May 27th, 2012, 11:50 am

I bought 4 gloves at an estate sale recently. I do not know how to value them. All are in perfect condition, inside and out, looking to me like they were never used. They are; 1. Rawlings Heart of the Hide Joe Adcock 1st baseman's mitt model TM 55 Made in USA. 2. MacGregor GP 3 John Roseboro catchers mitt made in USA 3. Wilson A 2100 Willie Davis ProModel outfielders glove made in Japan. 4. Rawlings GJ 27 Joe Rudi Bellows Web Wing Tip Softball Size Made in Tawain. I have played and coached for 40 years and know what a good glove is and these are all in the best condition. Anyone who can help me with information will be appreciated. This is my first post . Thanks, Jim

Actually, on the John Roseboro model I mentioned in my first post, there is something that looks like it could be smudgy ink on the top of the inside pad near the factory imprinted signature of Roseboro and it looks to me like it is the signature of John Rosebor with the number "8" after what I believe is his signature, But, ink tends to spread out over time so it is not clearly legible anymore.

Welcome to the forum. The Adcock definitely has some value - there are lots of collectors who like the Heart of the Hide gloves and I'm sure you'd do well selling it. If it's as nice as you say, I'd think anywhere from $100 to $150. The others, even though in great shape, probably won't have as much value to collectors but may to people looking for a glove they once owned as a child.

Thank you for your feedback. I see you are in E.Granby, Ct. I go through there quite often on the way to the airport. Live in S. Berkshire County. Would be interested in seeing your collection sometime. JE

Sure thing - i'm only a few minutes from the airport - you most likely drive right by from the direction you are coming.
