Names on gloves

Postby Bill247 » April 11th, 2012, 8:29 pm

Am I the only one out there who looks into the names that we find on our gloves? I'm sure we'd all like to find one that was owned by someone "famous". I picked up an early 30's model recently and on the back was a last name and nickname in quotes. Upon further review, I found a first name and the search was on. Both names were distinctive enough that the chance of multiple hits was small. I found a guy who was born at the right time and served in the USAF in WW2, Korea and Viet Nam, retiring as a major. Maybe the name in quotes was the guys' call sign. I got to thinking, probably too much, that he could have taken this glove on his tours of duty, or just left it at home for his returns. Playing catch with his his kids as they grew. I can't make myself want to scrub the golve clean. All of our gloves were used by kids just like we do with them now. Got an MM4 that fits my son perfectly! Just thinking. Stanley Cup starts tonight. Third best time of the year.
