I was actually looking for some examples of a full round/integrated thumb catchers mitt. I started a Google search at 1910 and worked back to 1890 looking through team photos and individual catchers. There were a lot of images to look through. The U. Michigan photo popped up as I was at 1895. I was stunned by the clarity/high resolution of the image to say nothing of the white button back mitt. Right now I have the Diamond brand Lajoie glove, the Brogan mitt and this new one on my must have list. I hope to acquire them in the coming weeks.

I bet they are in the same barn/ggarage attic that my Vermont label glove is in!

Gotta love the ebay sellers who take the time to post hi-rez photos. This early one is cool. That catchers mitt is thick as a brick!Image

A store display from 1938 containing a mitt, a trophy, a mask, unopened baseballs and a creepy Babe lurking in the background. All the bases are covered in this vintage Our Gang comedy "The Awful Tooth."
