Yes. I can't even fathom the idea of doing that, or finding it beneficial in any way. Having Mears look at it and give their opinion is one thing, marking it is just bizarre. Isn't a photograph on the documentation enough? People do weird things in the name of authenticity.

Below is a photo of a TOC ball player with an interesting glove. Gotta love it when an image is found with decent size and resolution. Enlarging a detail doesn't turn to mush, Yea!
Not too many hook and grommet fielders gloves out there. This one still has the pull tab attached. Pretty nice!

This cabinet photo should probably be in a special category because it is as good as it gets. It's circa 1890 of catcher Cal Broughton. Spectacular double snap button wrist straps on the catching and fingerless gloves. I have seen some blurry and inconclusive images of such glove construction in the past and here is a great photo of the real deal.

That is incredible, what an awesome glove photo, one of the best early glove pics I've ever seen. Very cool Mike, now we need to find a set of those gloves;). Good luck on the hunt!!

Gloves, shmuvs. Check out that stache and that belt - and those shoes. Ha.
That is a truly important pic Mike. Thanks for finding it. I too have never seen the double straps before. It's so neat to see something new after all these years.
