Okdoak and Joe,

I love these pictures of the players and their gloves. These pics begin to show some of the diversity in glove styles and web designs and it is even cooler the pro's are captured in photos with their gloves. Even the training tape used on a web to reinforce it shows the tape in action. LOL

Joe, I still have the Rainey web pic you gave me with Ival Goodman in frame and yes I still use it for glove exhibits. Thanks for the cool color pic it adds a lot to have a picture next to the glove that depicts the web style and glove style of the day.

Okdoak, great pics.

Dave

Here is a great photo Joe sent me of DiMaggio with a Reach or Spalding double "Rainey Trap" glove. I can't quite make out the stamping that is visible. It may be "Marvel Tannage". Joe thought it was from the late 1930's

Neat picture, Mike. This one of Lou Gehrig and Red Rolfe came from that same Boston Public Library collection that Joe posted the link for. It's a nice shot of the inside of Rolfe's glove and a glimpse at Gehrig's mitt.

I saw this photo on ebay of a player circa 1905 with what looks like a 1888 Sauers patent glove or a variation. An interesting looking glove.

Neat photos. I like the prototype web on the top one. That glimpse of the hang tag on the Hornsby is very cool, too.

1961 Press photo of Wilson "Frank House" Personal Model on the left and "Paul Richards" model on the right. The Paul Richards mitt looks like a knuckleballer's model.

Recently came across this Bain photo of the Yankees. The year is 1925. Looks like a 3-finger at right of center? I cropped the photo to focus on the glove...the full photograph is here: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/ggbain/item/ggb2006013402/

Catcher Billy Sullivan of the White Sox circa 1905-10. He may be using a Victor mitt. Victor Sporting Goods offered a "Sullivan" Professional Model mitt sold through Sears & Roebuck in 1906. I can make out the Victor patent heel lacing but the web is obscured in the photo of Sullivan.

It was fun watching R.A. Dickey pitch in the 2012 All Star game. They had a segment about the mitt the catcher Ruiz used.
