Hard to find an image of Ty Cobb with an identifiable glove brand. I think this photo shows him with the Rawlings Bill Doak model.

Looks like the Sauers patent catching glove. It was popular at time these Goodwin Old Judge photos were taken

A young Carl Hubbell sporting a Rawlings Bill Doak model glove. Looks like he fashioned a web with athletic tape.

From an 1896 Victor catalog. Later versions had a buckle web as seen on this primo example.

Willie Mays trying on Jim Maloney's MacGregor KC1 glove prior to an old timers game at Riverfront Stadium in 1974.

Willie Mays with an H-web Rawlings. The tag is missing possibly in deference to MacGregor with whom he had an endorsement contract.

A couple of rare model gloves.
Ken Boyer with a an X-web glove. Designed originally as part of the Rawlings Big 8 campaign in 1964. Most X-webs were middle of the line gloves. This one has the V-anchored web feature common to top of the line models.
Image
below is the Warren Spahn XPG3 model. I couldn't find this one in a catalog.

Roger Maris with an H-web Spalding.
Image
Another photo of Maris with the H-web glove in 1967.
Image
A Frank Bolling Model 42-211X. I couldn't find this one in a catalog either.

A team photo of the Baltimore Blues BBC from the 1890's.

An interesting mitt below. There are some similar examples on JD's site but nothing quite as squared off.

Mickey Mantle transitioning to first base in 1967. He's borrowing Elston Howards base mitt. Normally a catcher, Howard played first base for a number of games throughout the seasons. The Rawlings DCT model was new for '67.

The Detroit Tigers team, early 1900's. The mitt in the foreground is interesting.

A closeup of the mitt with an example below won on ebay many moons ago.

The front and back of the mitt.

Here is a catalog illustration of mitt. Stall & Dean had a patent for a continuous band at the perimeter which permanently closed the cleft. The idea was to form a better pocket. D&M, Spalding, Ratsch Peerless and even Ted Kennedy had models with variations in the early 1900's.
