Dizzy Dean sporting a top of the line Goldsmith Red Lucas model glove.

A nice example below. Goldsmith was unique for that style of webbing.

Photo of a young Dizzy Dean with a sewn web glove
Image
The glove is unusual in that the sewn web has holes along the top and bottom. This would be the Rawlings Billy Southworth model with patented adjustable web. Notice how the web is detached on the thumb side and refastened with some sort of home made repair.
Image
Here is a catalog illustration of the glove with an example.

An image of Fred Merkle fielding.
Image
The wrist strap of the Goldsmith Merkle model base mitt on the left doesn't match the photo above. The Reach Professional model on the right has the offset buckle that seems to match the photo.

Boston pitcher Jack Kramer in the mid to late 1940's. An interesting Rainey Trap web glove. looks like Kramer laced the first and second finger together. The glove is unusual for the centered finger seams on the back. It doesn't match any examples or catalog illustrations that I could find on JD's site http://www.baseballglovecollector.com. More than likely a Spalding model. Pretty cool glove overall.

Babe Ruth with Rabbit Maranville in the early 1930's. Ruth is using a Spalding base mitt with a patented laced wrist strap. Ruth played 30 odd games as a first baseman.

Below is a similar Spalding model showing the unique wrist strap.

Just a great photo of Rube Waddell warming up on the grounds of the Ormond Hotel in Florida. The fielders mitt shown is like a mini catchers mitt. It has a strap and D-ring buckle with a leather keeper. It's hard to ascertain the make since many manufacturers made the popular fielders mitts. The photo is from the Waddell estate and was sold first at Hunts Auctions and later at Heritage auctions. At first, the photo was dated to 1898 but later changed to 1903 with the "H" on the uniform correctly researched to be an "R" for Rollins College in Florida. So what was major league star Waddell doing in Florida wearing a college uniform? For the rest of the story https://ourgame.mlblogs.com/a-new-image-of-rube-waddell-3009c6b685e3

"Alabama" Pitts glove is a Rawlings Bill doak model. The web was redesigned in 1935 with flexible neoprene tubing added over the laces.

Joe DiMaggio with Wally Berger in the mid 1930's. DiMaggio is sporting a Wilson model 648 glove. It still has all the silver stamping on the back.

A Turn of the century baseball team photo. A full round catchers mitt in the foreground. An interesting way the pocket is formed
