Love that picture - wonder what make the glove Hank is holding? Looks like Denkert stampings across the top but it's hard to see

I thought Denkert at first but could also be a Rawlings. Same upward slant to the logo. Here's a photo from a 1935 Rawlings catalog. Looks like the same glove although I don't see the pocket reinforcement in the 1935 photo. maybe the 1936 version included that feature.

Bob Feller with some kids in the 1940's. It looks like he is wearing a D&M lace back model glove with tunnel webbing.

George Selkirk breaking in a glove circa 1937. Looks like he is tearing out the thumb seam in the process.

From the 1889 Goodwin & Co. Old Judge cabinets. Catcher Jim Banning of the Washington Nationals. He's wearing another of the Sauer's 1888 patented catchers gloves. I have yet to find a catcher with a pillow type mitt in any of the 1887-90 Old Judge cabinets. There's a lot of them to go through however. I have only looked through about 25% of them.

Mike, do you have the book: The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Co. ~ 1886-1890 - lots of great poses in there and probably easier to flip through than anything on the computer. I'm not a card guy but I love looking through that book.

I love this thread. Thanks Mike for keeping it robust. It got me to go through some of my cabinets and old pictures. Been meaning to post this great tipped finger catchers glove from the 1890's for a long time.

Love this one of the Keystone team. These white webless beauties look like they haven't seen a game yet.

JD that is great close-up resolution on your photos of the gloves. I can't get that from many of my lo-rez internet searches. Those are nice vintage gloves. I have a full web version of the buckle back webless model pictured and have been curious about the two cross seams on the forefinger. It must have been unique to a certain manufacturer. I don't see many around.
Brett, thanks for the heads up about the Goodwin & Co. book. I didn't know one existed. I found one reasonably priced online and am looking forward to perusing through it. It looks like it was well written and documented thoroughly.

Here's a relatively modern day photo of Robin Roberts with the Yankees in 1961. He stayed around just long enough for a cup of coffee before on to another team. Weird to not see him in a Phillies uniform. He jettisoned one of my favorites, the Macgregor "Spider Web" glove in favor of a Rawlings model.

This photo is from an auction catalog of a decade ago. It is a purported 1940's gamer mitt of Gus Mancuso. It looks to be a Wilson model. Love the extra tape wrapping around the rolled lace webbing.

Great photo above, professional & dramatic lighting. Cool glove and uniform.

Here's an old 1880's baseball team tintype. The catcher, seated in the middle has what looks like a pair of ordinary leather work gloves, re-purposed. No wrist opening on the glove, It is either slit on the side or fastened on the palm side as most hand gloves of the day. It looks like gusseted finger stall seams on the back for ease of gripping.
Image

Here's a close-up of the gloves. They look to made with out-seam construction so they would be comfortable to wear.
