Neat Spalding ad

A fellow collector friend brought this ad to my attention. Very neat webless glove. Am I to assume that the "hump" is a crescent or internal one?

Here is another ad from Reach differentiating the "Patent Hump" from the " Patent Inside Hump". Apparently some ball players preferred the smooth face on a glove and Reach developed a shaped inner padding without stitching it to a crescent shaped canvas pocket on the front.

An example of a glove with shaped padding is below.

One down side to the inside hump is keeping it in place. The back of the glove below shows no stitching on the inner liner attaching the padding. Perhaps the padding was built up and pre-formed in layers during manufacture. There were some patents for pre-formed padding at the time.

The earlier glove below has a smooth face and also the double row of crescent shaped stitching on the inner liner.

There is no lacing to undo to look inside this model but it feels like there is a defined and raised area of padding that is held in place by the stitching.
