Do you mean the 1950's looking glove pretty much in the center of the picture? That is a nice MacGregor G111 Bobby Doerr model.
It was actually me that contacted the paper in this case. On their website, they often post a link about "Reporters Seeking Information" on various topics for upcoming stories. They might be requesting reader comments on anything from gasoline prices, the worst boss you ever worked for, your favorite Ohio pro sports team or whatever subject the reporter is working up a story about. A couple of weeks ago the topic was "Do you collect anything unusual?". I sent a response about my glove collecting hobby.
There's nothing like a little good old-fashioned shameless self-promotion!
About a week later the reporter called and we did a phone interview. Then, about a week after that, a photographer came to my house to take some pictures. I had pulled out about a dozen gloves of different styles to kind of represent the evolution of gloves. As she started taking pictures, she asked me if I had any more gloves. Silly question! I went to my family room and gabbed an armload. She took a few more pictures then asked if I had more. So I grabbed another armload. From there, the photographer began burying me in gloves, resulting in the picture they published in the paper.
