Gloves Steal The Show!

Postby chippalini » March 20th, 2011, 9:49 pm

In addition to my glove collecting, I also participate in WWII living history events. We set up displays, wear period uniforms, and have a mock battle. (This is why my interest is military gloves) I took my gloves to an event this weekend, and a friend and I starting having a catch. I have never had so many people come up to talk in my years of doing these type events. I finally broke out some gloves for the public to use, and we had folks waiting in line to play catch with my split finger gloves. Of course, now I am inspired to go buy some more! Thanks to everyone on the forum for helping me get my collection up and running, and to Brett in particular, who sold me my first--a Wilson 617X military issue.

1940s gloves are fun to play catch with! I use a Joe Cronin MG when I play catch with my daughter and her boyfriend. Love the way it feels when the ball hits the web or the pocket. They made great gloves during that era with great endorsers to match; Williams, DiMaggio, Musial, Feller, etc...
