Because you have achieved god-like status in glove collecting (although maybe that shouldn't be encouraged). Anyway, you are privy to information regarding a bewitching 1930's laced finger glove you won on ebay.

Thanks Mike, I really have enjoyed that patent posts and appreciate you finding the one for this glove. I was more going for rock star status, though, because they get all the girls.

I absolutely love this glove! It was darn expensive but I guess that's what it takes sometimes to get a forever keeper. It is a whopping 10 X 9 with the zany index finger lacing, but it also has a circular lining padding section that's pretty cool.

You can see the bottom half of the large circular palm pad stitching at the top right of the lining.

Check out how the index finger lacing wraps around the glove and connects to the front heel lacing

And for the dreamy headshot ...

Here's another one related to weird lacing. LOVE IT, too (back off!).

Hey glove collectors, I will pay a lot for weird laced gloves. Send me some pics with outlandish prices and test me.

Rob and Mike,

Looks to me like someone got carried away with grommetts. :D I love this old glove. I have its brother except mine is a Goldsmith and has a laced web and fewer grommets that don't run on the strap area. COOL Glove!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a look at mine from JD's website.
This one Rob got is as close as I have seen to the one I have in my collection. I have not seen any others like it.

I plan to keep this one in my collection with the many other oddball gloves I have in the collection. These are fun to collect.

I don't know, Dave, I think the rule is that if you post pictures after a request than you have to trade them to the requester :-)

Nice glove!

Dave, your Goldsmith "Snare" is so cool. I have had a couple of McG "Snare" models, The wierd 3 finger model with dummy finger and a baseman's mitt. Never have seen one like yours before.

Rob, the other views of that Reach mitt are really great. I was curious because I followed it on ebay for a while since it was so unusual. I like the circular stitched pocket padding. I ran across a patent for that somewhere and I think it was another Reach invention but much earlier, circa 1910-12. I wonder if your other glove is a Wison. I recall the later Wilson A2000 gloves were also laced up the pinky.

I know other 1960's-70's gloves were also laced up the pinky, so maybe it's a stretch to associate them.

Rob, looking closer at the laced pinky glove . Is it perhaps a VW&D?

I checked baseballglovecollector.com and there it was, a Victor, Wright & Ditson. Cool glove! I collected VW&D for a while. I had this awesome one, The "Conquerer"

Hi MIke,

I got my glove in a trade with Fred Lowman a few years ago. Fred was kind enough to work a 3 way trade via JD. It fits well in with my other gloves. I feel fortunate to have it.

That pre war glove, the vw&d, is a great glove. It looks like it even has a 3 grommet flap with lace for the web. Awesome.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dave, thanks for the comment. You and Rob have a good sense of humor in your posts. :) This picture below is the "Conquerer" before cleaning. What a bear that was. White gloves are so hard to clean and stay white. Mine got a little off-white after cleaning which was disappointing. But who knows, maybe it was an off white color to begin with.

Mike,

Wow! You brought a new life to that old glove and I am sure it makes for a great display glove. Super nice job and a very cool old timer glove.

I think you just wanted to look at her behind, Mike, but yes it is a VW&D. As soft as they come.

By the way, got this Mark Walters in a fun trade. Speaking of trades, Dave, I'm not done with you yet
