I have an old first basemens glove that was passed on to me from my father. It is a jc higgins 1678 model. I would like more info and value and most of all I can't make out the endoesement. Please help thanks.

Would you be able to post any pictures of the mitt? That might make it easier to identify. Unfortunately, catalog records for JC Higgins models aren't as populous as other manufacturers. Some endorsers on JC Higgins 1B mitts I've come across include Joe Stripp, Babe Dahlgren, Johnny Mize and Lew Fonseca.

JC Higgins also had Gehrig as an endorser, but never encountered a 1678 Gehrig. I'm not familiar with that model number at all.

I HOPE THIS PICTURE WORKS, THE HEEL OF THE GLOVE SAYS JC HIGGINS OUR OWN TRADEMARK 150 SEARS AND ROEBUCK CO. .....AND BELOW THAT IT SAYS 1678. THE ENDORESEMENT ON THE PINKY SIDE OF THE GLOVE I CAN MAKE OUT A JA IN THE FIRST NAME AND M--KRY OR ERY IN THE LAST NAME.

If there's more lettering after the M--kry my guess is James "Mickey" Vernon. If not, I think I may need to buy a vowel.

I believe you are right with James "mickey" Vernon. Any idea of age and value? The glove is in rough shape.

Hard to tell from the pictures but glove is most likely from the 1940's/50's. Not much value I'm afraid.
