Spalding 307 and Nokona G51 Questions

Postby bbrah » August 23rd, 2009, 5:52 pm

Hi everyone!

My bro just sent me a couple of gloves to restore, but I'm a little apprehensive and wanted to solicit opinions before I do anything to them.

I've got a Nokona G51 Joe Jackson that is in excellent condition except for the lacing and piping. I wasn't able to find the value of the glove in Phillips' Price Guide. Does anyone have an idea of how much this glove is worth? I'd like to repair it, but I don't want to devalue it. Does anyone know what this is worth and what effect repairing it will have on the value?

Next, I've got a Spalding model 307 softball glove. It's a split-finger with a single tunnel web. It is unlined, but has external pads sewn on the pinky and heel. It has a single-button wrist strap. Condition is very good+ but also needs to have the piping replaced. Does anyone have an idea of the value of this glove and what effect replacing the piping will do to it?

Thanks for the help. I'll post photos after I recondition them.

Joe Jackson prices are on page 10 of the pocket price guide under heading "certain pre war hall of famers (no Jackson wasn't HOF but largely considered in that category of star)
Prices on Post War Jackson gloves such as Nokona:
$250-$350-$500 for the fielders glove G51 VG-[EX-Nr. Mint.
Hope this helps.

The sotball glove is probably not worth very much - repairing it won't have any effect on it's value either way.

If you don't plan on keeping the Jackson I would sell as is and let the buyer decide what to do with it.

Thanks Joe, I guess I didn't look hard enough.

Thanks Brett, I'm just reconditioning the gloves, so I'll let my brother decide if he wants me to replace the piping on the Jackson. I will relace and condition it though.

Regards,
