Friend Keith Knabe just sent me about 8 or 10 catalog copies and one of these was Caprico, where we find most of our Jackie Robinson signature gloves. Though this catalog was not dated, it is assumed it came out in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
They feature Jackie's likeness on several pages but don't show his facsimile autograph on any of the gloves pictured which includes two 6-finger models, an $8.95 and a $16.98. The $8.95 is described as the jackie Robinson Model A 399 and is a youth model. There is a catchers mitt (double break) and a first baseman's mitt (wide trapper style) among the seven gloves shown.
Caprico was headquartered in the Empire State Building in New York City and its gloves were made in Japan.
"Made in Caprico's own factories in Japan under exacting supervision, each glove is individually inspected to insure quality.
