Patch and buttons

Can someone explain why a glove would have a patch on the wrist strap and on the exact same model number, it will be stamped with the manufacturer's name instead. I have noticed that it happens a lot with Wilson and Rawlings gloves in the 1940-1950's. It is the same with the metal button. Sometimes it will say the manufacturer"s name on the button, while other times it is brass or painted black. It is not always a military glove either. I am sure there is someone on this forum that can give a clear explanation, or am I the only glove collector that has been puzzled by this?
