After bidding on this item, Mark pointed out to me that it is a reproduction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

I wasn't aware that Rawlings had done any reproduction work but after looking more closely at the pictures and seeing the stamping, I feel kind of stupid for bidding on the item. I have been outbid but I'm considering emailing the seller and asking if he knows this already. Does anyone have any information about these - Mark mentioned to me they were made for Eastbay. Thanks

question

Postby softball66 » October 9th, 2006, 1:26 pm

has anyone emailed the eBay seller for more information or to ask if this is a replica? I think Rawlings has been working on some replicas but I didn't know they'd hit the market. If so, Rawlings should be putting some sort of identifyer on the glove to say it's a replica.

I had mailed the seller earlier when I saw the glove to let him know it was a reissue, hopefully he adds that to his description.

Bob C. not aware

I just visited with Bob Clevenhagen who says he's not aware that Rawlings is making any of their replicas for sale. He did say that a Ralwings dealer (Frank Morton??) is having some current and near current Rawlings gloves made in the Philippines but these will not be stamped with USA on them. Such as the glove A-Rod uses.

The gloves were made for Eastbay in the late 90s, early 2000. They issued a XPG 3, a PRO 1000 and a 12TC. They were made with 'code 5 leather' and retailed for $199. Stamped on the inside thumb reads 'Assembled in the USA'. I owned all three...they ran small, and didn't feel quite right. On the other hand...The batch of 6HFs that Morton had are great. Beautiful leather and great shape that I prefer over the Horween 6HFs from several years ago.

uh oh!

I think eBay pulled this because it referenced another web site (that of Bruce Rogers'). That's a no-no on eBay.

Ebay will also pull a listing for keyword spamming.
