I've been a member of the forums for about a year but really haven't participated in posting much. I've known a few people in this forum a little longer than that through some random glove purchases over the years (thanks mvalz).
I love the game of baseball. I love small ball. (although nothing is prettier that a giant swing of the bat). My father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all college educated minor league players and managers. Me, being the rebelious dark horse trying to break from years of New England tradition, dropped baseball for hockey in mid-west high school and progessed beyond. My cousins carried the minor league baseball family tradition, but none of them manage. I was actually better at playing ball. I digress...
Anyways, I'm not looking to start a collection, but of the few things that are sacred, ball gloves is one of them. It's hard to find those who truly understand and have an appreciation for ball gloves. I usually only poke my head up when I'm trying to purchase a glove for use (90's era HOH please!). Probably not the best thing to say in a collector's forum. But, I do have several of my father and grandfathers' gloves and mitts from the last 80 years that, to me, are priceless. This site seems to be a great resource for restoring and preserving vintage gloves, which is what I will be doing with some of those old "offsidewing family" gloves. I'll post pics as I progress. I may pick up a couple beaters from PIAS before cleaning up some with sentiment. I'll be sure to post pics!
