What can you tell me about a ken Wel Lou Gehrig baseball glove from the 20's. It is a Buckle Back type. Thank you... I see alot of the reproduction gloves of this model out there also. Any tips on what I should look for and of course a Ball park value :)
Thank You

Ken Wel produced Gehrig endorsed basemitts in both buckleback and zipperback models. Both are extremely tough to come by, but the zipperback is considered by many to be the most sought after glove/mitt in the hobby. About 5 or so have been unearthed and most recently sold within the $6,500 to $12,000 range depending on condition. Though considered much less valuable than the zipperback, I’ve actually seen far fewer Ken Wel buckleback models. Here is a link to a few photos.

If you happen to be lucky enough to have found one (either a zipperback or buckleback), I am seriously looking to buy (contact me at vintageglove@yahoo.com). You could always list it on eBay, or a major auction house is always a safe bet. If you don’t have one and aren’t fishing for the value of your new treasure, best of luck finding one!
