eBay Sales?

Postby MTGLOVEGUY » February 29th, 2008, 5:06 pm

Ok here is a question for all of you ebayers out there, I am going to thin down my collection, either piece by piece or in lots by player or Manufacture ( as suggested to me by JD ), my question is do you think a 7-10 listing is more benificial then say a three day listing? I know as a buyer of items on ebay I never bid until the final minute. As a seller do you really get more people looking at it over the course of 4 extra days or should a person just list there items to end during the weekend when most people are able to take a look? Just curious to see how you all feel. Thanks BJ

I agree with jwoody, I prefer a 7 day auction, ending on either Saturday or Sunday 8-9pm. I think that some buyers don't check the listings every single day and you might miss an opportunity to sell one if you only have a short-time auction. I also prefer selling off gloves individually, rather than in lots. It takes longer but I think you make out better in the long run. Unfortunately, so does eBay! lol

I agree with the last 2 posts. BTW, I also look at how many people have the items you are selling on "watch". You will see that it takes 5-7 days to get a significant number of people watching your titem. Unless the item is very desirable then it doesn't really matter what you do... 10 days is uasually too long and just annoys people who want to bid.

I definetely agree that 10 days is too long. I have had items on my watch list that I remove simply because something else went up for auction or simply changed my mind.

All good points, I also try and end auctions on Sunday night. Keep in mind it is Pacific time, so I usually try and end mine between 8 and 11 eastern time.

I think the individual auction is best. Laws of economics tell you that you will not earn as much on lot auctions as individuals. Also, I recommend starting with a very low price to generate bids. There is proven "herd mentality" around online auctions, and the more bidders you can get involved the better. eBay would do its sellers a favor by allowing you to sort by "most bids", this would surely beget more bidders.

Best of luck with your auctions...
