Burn Out

Postby softball66 » February 12th, 2008, 9:17 am

You've probably all played catch at one time with someone who throws the ball extremely hard all the time. I've probably posted this before but, along with games like Blue Jay and Scrub, we played a game called burn out. You would stand about 50 or 60 feet away and throw the ball as hard as you could to the other guy who had to try and catch it. Till one of you finally gave up. You know how that ball can sting catching it in the bare palm. So often we'd try to catch it in the webbing. That's why, when the Trapper and Snare models came out, you could play burn out all day and not take a stinger.
Oh, and no catchers mitts. We probably lost a lot of webs that way though catching the hard-thrown balls in there.
