Happy New Year Fellow Glovers:

Hi guys, Just a note to mention I just got some 2nd ed. "A Fielder's Dream Glove Collection-Expanded" books from the printer the other day. I just placed one on ebay which offers up a few pics of the 2nd ed. and a bit of a description for the new book. The book is selling on ebay for a total of 27.00 which includes shipping and handling. If you type in "vintage baseball glove book" or do your item search using the following ebay item number 300186937601 that should bring the item up.

I am offering to any of you on this Glove Forum a fellow glover disount total of 24.00 (for someone who missed out on the 1st ed. book) The 24.00 includes shipping and handling). IF you bought my 1st ed. book I want you to know I appreciated your doing so and the price to any "Previous buyers" is discounted to 22.00 shipping and handling included. 5 bucks off the ebay price for a Previous Buyer Disount.

Below, I have placed a more detailed comparison of the 1st ed. vs. the 2nd ed. book for you to decide if you want to purchase the 2nd ed. (PLEASE EMAIL ME at cunninghamd1707@yahoo.com if you want to purchase a book and mention you want the "Glove Forum Discount" (24.00). If you are previous buyer of the 1st ed. then just mention you want the Previous buyer discount. (22.00) and give me your shipping address. I can take paypal, or personal check or money.

Below is the comparison of the two books.

The differences between the 1st and 2nd ed.
1st ed. vs. 2nd ed.

51 different baseball gloves VS. 85 different baseball gloves
(34 new baseball glove images)

41 different webs in the WEB ID section VS. 65 different webs in the web
ID section
(24 new webs identified) I shrunk pics in the WEB ID section to a smaller size than the pics in the 1st ed.

0 softball gloves VS. 12 vintage softballl gloves(new to this 2nd ed.)

0 group web shots VS. 14 group web shots(new to 2nd ed.)

90 glove image shots total VS. over 180 glove image shots total

24 pages cover to cover VS. 28 pages cover to cover

If you have further questions feel free to email me about the 2nd ed. book. My email address is cunninghamd1707@yahoo.com Remember, if you want to pick a book up let me know in your email to me that you are from the "Glove Forum". Please do not buy the book using ebay, as I could not afford to discount the book to you via that way.

Happy New Years and have fun glove hunting this 2008 year!! :) :)

A special thanks to Joe Phillips, Jim Daniel and Rob Mucha who reviewed this 2nd ed. for me. Rob and Jim also shared some of their great glove pics to round out the 2nd ed. book. Thanks again guys, you are the best!!

Hi Gloveworks, Thanks for the kind words on the glove books. Actually, the books would not have been as informative nor as complete without the help of the historical nuggets that Joe Phillips shared with me and without some of the glove pics that JD and Rob allowed me to include in both editions. The 2nd ed. book is just about as comprehensive as I could make it with the web variations that I and these fellow collectors feel exist out there.

There may be a few more web styles or glove types that this 2nd ed. does not include, but at this time it does not seem significant enough to warrant doing a 3rd ed. ball glove book. This will likely be the last book I do on ball gloves as I think we have rounded up nearly all we could and put them into the book.

While, the book does not include some of the most famously endorsed gloves (there are some that are HOF) or the most pristine quality glove in the hobby, it does offer a serious look at both the standard and the rarely seen glove and web styles that are very unique and seldom ever seen on ebay or even JD's website. I have posted some of my gloves on JD's website, but there are a number that I have reserved for pics within the 2nd ed. book.

Thanks again for the kind words and I do hope it will stimulate more interest in our glove hobby.

Best to you.

Found an excited buyer

Postby softball66 » January 3rd, 2008, 5:51 pm

After I'd sent out one of our Glove Catalog Source Books out to a collector, I mentioned about Dave's fine book and he wanted to see one, so I sent him one to look at, an extra that I had from Mr. Cunningham. The guy responded that the glove book "knocked his socks off!". He was so excited with the detailed photos and arrangement of the book. I'm so happy we have Dave's well-planned effort and brother Jim Daniel's glove-filled web site. We're not missing much in terms of seeing gloves and if we do, it'll probably show up on Brett's forum here you bet.

Joe, Thanks for the feedback on the glove book. I am glad your glover buddy enjoyed the book. Having fun in the hobby and learning a bit more about the history of the old fielder's gloves was one of my goals when I put the Glove book together.

I might note that if someone is looking for the ebay item number that I referred to in my first post on this thread, it will no longer be there. That 2nd ed. book sold. I did put anohter book on ebay so if you are still interested in purchasing a 2nd ed. book using the forum discount and want to see some pics of the glove book and read more details on an the book, then I might suggest doing an ebay search for "vintage baseball glove book" on ebay. My item number may keep changing from time to time so maybe the title search would be a better avenue. That ought to bring up the 2nd ed. book for you to read a bit more about the book and see some pics of pages from the book.

I will extend my offer through the month of January, of 24.00 (shipping and handling included) to newbies on this Glove Forum. You do need to email me at cunninghamd1707@yahoo.com if you want want to purchase the 2nd ed. The 22.00 (shipping and handling) to those who bought my first ed. book will go until I decide to shut down the book project. :) Again, please just email me at the above email if you want to get a 2nd ed.

Thanks again to those who have picked up the new glove book. I hope you will enjoy it too.
