That last photo is actually Grover C Alexander, but you make a good point, Eric. Ball players from that era usually look much older than they actually are. So many of them had hard lives growing up, working in factories or coal mines or the family farm when they were just kids. Making a living playing ball looked really good in comparison. Like Edd Roush said, "I didn't expect to make it all the way to the big leagues; I just had to get away from them damn cows."
Wish I knew who made Pete Alexander's glove. Great photo.

The son of HOFer Big Ed Walsh, Ed Walsh Jr., with a very cool Goldsmith Valdes Modelo in 1932.

Ah your absolutely right…I knew I should have gone back and checked that Greg…I saved that photo a long time ago and kept going back and forth in my head to try and remember for sure who it was and for some reason Bender kept coming to my mind…the other two I recently looked up to go with the “Alexander” photo. My bad totally…I almost didn’t even post it because wasn’t 100% sure. But yes you’re right, and now that I’m thinking about it I think I saved another photo of Alexander around the same time so I would remember who it was, still didn’t lol ;). Sorry about that mix up

No worries Eric. You still make a good point on how tough it was to be a ballplayer back then.

It’s funny…I look a bit more into the photo and of course it’s on the cover of a book about Alexander “Wicked Curve”…never seen or read the book, but I can certainly see why they choose that particular photo of him…feel like a fool, it was like in the back of my mind I knew Bender wasn’t right…but I had convinced myself that hopefully it was lol. Think I saw that photo on Facebook a long time ago and it just struck me as great one, the eye appeal I guess. I have many saved that I have no idea anymore who the hell it is?? Baseball photography is a whole different realm to me…cool and I love it, but I’m no expert by any means;)

Here’s an early photo of a webless…Sid Farrar, I think ;) lol

A few weeks ago I found a photo that I was certain was of Carl Hubbell. Until I realized that the player was right handed, not a lefty like Carl. It happens to all of us.
A couple of 1930's players with old school sewn webs, Lon Warneke and Buddy Myer.

Just saw this one…I’m from Warren, Maine so this one stood out to me, though it’s Warren, PA…the Iron & Oil League, Circa 1895

Honus, standing in the back, second from the left, with his glove on;)

Thanks Mike. I did a double take when I first saw it. Cool to see a young Honus, Eric.
KiKi Cuyler has the same type single tunnel web glove in all the photo's I've seen, even in his last season in 1938 with Brooklyn.

Vince DiMaggio with his top of the line endorsed glove. It's one of those big Hutch buckle backs. Thanks to JD's glove gallery for the match.

Billy Myers' glove in 1939 with what looks the Hutch tag on it. You can just see part of the Rainey web like on his endorsed model. I think.

Nice photo matching of the Hutch gloves Greg! It's great when you can see the factory stamps.
