Here's a special one. Derek has this awesome Rawlings DCT model. It seems to be from 1962-64 with the "Wrist Snugger Adjustment". The models from 1965 on had the Comfo-Lok wrist strap. it also is a "Patent Applied For" model.

The unusual feature is the absence of the palm pad lacing below the web.

The ads from the Rawlings catalog 1962-64 show the DCT model with palm pad lacing.

One thumbnail photo in the catalog however show a DCT model with no palm lacing. I wonder if Derek knows the story of his base mitt.

Here's one of Joe Torre from 1962. He is using a Spalding Jim Hegan model.

Jim Hegan in 1962 spring training with his son Mike. Hegan's mitt is a Spalding Jim Hegan Personal Model 42-779. Looks to be the same model Torre is using. There wasn't a Hegan personal Model in the Spalding catalog at the time.

Mike, I think my DCT is actually a first year model from the 1961 Rawlings catalog. No palm pad lacing, same wrist strap, I can't see any difference.

Tom Tresh looking through Wilson model 1256CL(Chicago Leather) gloves in 1963 spring training. They look like the '62 A2000 models.

Interesting. I found this photo of Clem Labine's Wilson with the shooting star and CL stamping awhile ago.

Good one Greg. It looks like a 1961 version with the Edge-U-Cated Heel.

Good one Derek.
Bob Turley used a Rawlings Stan Musial model TG12 when that model first came out in '60.

Below is a Turley gamer TG12 glove

at some point Turley began using a special order XPG7 glove that had the characteristics of the TG12.
The XPG7 glove was unendorsed and was missing the Trapeze stamp on the back.

The photo below is an XPG7 glove in pristine shape which recently sold on ebay.

Mike, had I known then what I know now I probably would have put in an effort to aquire that XPG 7 when it sold on ebay. Unfortunately I had never seen one and researching it provided no info. Bummer.

I found this photo of Don Wert who played for the Tigers from 1963-70. The Bolling PM 42-207 only shows up in their 1961 catalog. In 1962 it became the 42-205 with different heel lacing and the web changed to the one used on Rawlings' Mantle XPG6. It looks like Spalding kept him supplied with that same style glove throughout his career. That's his 1970 baseball card. The photo of his unused glove came from an interview he did in 2008 where he talked about the 1968 WS champion Tigers.

Here's a knuckle ball mitt used by Mike Sadek of the S.F. Giants in the 1970's. The mitt has extra lacing around the face and is stamped 1139.

The 1139 mitt compared to a standard Wilson mitt from a retail catalog.

A rare green MacGregor glove sold on ebay for $153. It appears to be unendorsed and stamped "Pro Model". It's made in USA sometime after 1968 since it is missing the Brunswick logo on the patch. I can't quite make out the model number but may be G2_? MacGregor made TOTL colored leather gloves in 1972. At that time the coach of the Miami Hurricanes ordered green gloves for the baseball team from MacGregor. It was part of St. Patricks day celebration and the UM school colors are orange and green. I wonder if the ebay glove was one of those.

Jim Delsing with a Rawlings LF 2. Rawlings made the Lonny Frey LF until 1953 while Jim was with Detroit (1952-56), but it had a closed heel, with no pocket lacing. His LF 2 more closely resembles the RR or BD models.
