Some very nice gloves, mitts, and pics above.

If I could pick up any glove in the hobby I would pick the Spalding Tornado Palm. One of the more interesting designs ever put on a glove. You sometimes see the homemade patched palm with the spiral stitching, but to manufacture a glove that way. I could imagine what the sewing department at the manufacturing plant was saying about the guy who came up with this idea. You want me to what?!?!?

I also really like the double face Spalding from the same time period of the Tornado palm.

Here's a unique Schmelzer's glove that's been in my collection for a few years - I believe Rob owned it before me. There is some very cool stitching under the fingers on the front of the glove, it has an incredible patch and the suede leather is very fluffy and soft. I brought it to the National this summer and it got a lot of compliments. I didn't really want to sell it but if the right offer came/comes along...

Interesting that your glove has a similar sort of finger reinforcement as the Worth "Wamby" glove and also the one owned by Art Kapsapsis. it's a great looking glove.

Yep, that one hurt to part with, but had to help a friend in a trade for a glove he really wanted. That one has all the bells and whistles: unique finger crotch reenforcements, buckleback full web, great label, uncommon brand, white, and its a softy. Hey Ninja, see what I gave up?

Those Spalding Double Face and Tornado Palm gloves are amazing. And Brett's Schmelzer buckle back is a beauty also. I got to see it close up at the National and it was tough to hand it back. I briefly considered making a run for the exit with it. :) The day after I posted on how much I like the joined finger gloves and how they never surface, sure enough I saw this one on ebay as a BIN. It does have flaws; Frankenstein stitching where the thumb seam tore and tears in the liner, but I was glad to see it. I just cleaned it and think I can just patch the liner. The rest of the glove is nice and supple. The manufacturer wasn't mentioned in the listing and I couldn't tell from the pictures. I was happy to see that it's a Thos. Wilson and that JD has a 1927 catalog that shows it on his great website.

Here's an interesting 1B mitt that my dad owned for many years and that I bought from him.

I really like the Rawlings mitt. A simple, clever way to cinch up the wrist opening. Never had seen that style before.

okdoak,

Great job cleaning the stubby finger glove up. Boy it has a lot of grime on it but you managed to clean it off. Those old stubby finger gloves are fairly hard to come by too.

Thanks Dave! I agree, they don't turn up very often. Which is kind of odd, because they were made for a number of years. I don't know who offered the first one, but Wilson had multiple models of them from the late 20's and into the 30's and Goldsmith had their versions in the mid to late 30's. Higgins had at least one version, as did OK, and JD has a Diamond brand, too. Anyway, I hope to see a few more. I just finished patching the liner on this one:
