IMHO, anyone can see that the sellers saw an opportunity to make a bunch more cash, so they threw the brakes on the auction, effectively throwing you from the train. I would be more sympathetic to them if they'd had a change of heart and decided not to sell the glove after all. I hope that eBay comes through for you Brett. Based on my past bad experiences with eBay however, I'm very skeptical. Here's hoping for a positive outcome for you.

I don't really know what eBay can do other than ban the seller. I'm 99.9% certain I won't be seeing the glove. I'm hoping eBay can also ascertain the people making these offers and ban them as well.

I've been on eBay since 1998 and this is the first time I've had to report a seller. Their feedback is only 10 so it appears they haven't been at this long.

That's great policy speak. Sorry you had this problem. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We dealt with it, but cannot talk about it. Trust us.

If it had been signed by a single person that would have made it a little less anonymous.

Just wanted to add to the consensus that ebay seriously needs to address their policy of allowing a seller to end an auction early with no explanation or consequenses. It ticks me off to no end to be the high bidder for days to find out that the listing just disappears. How ebay can consider that fair practice for a so-called auction is beyond me.
I really like Centerfield's idea about having some type of blind auction on the Forum. Also realise that it's probably alot to ask of Brett as pressed for time as he is these days, but an alternative to ebay sure is appealing to me.

My time for the next couple months is going to be tied up considerably so doing a silent auction at this time doesn't fit with my schedule.

One thing we may want to consider is a Skype auction. I mentioned this in a post on the future of glove collecting. We can all connect via a conference call (audio or video) and anyone who wanted to participate could. I'd also like to try this sometime just for talking about gloves.

I'd be willing to give the Skype auction or glove show a try. I don't have a webcam for my PC but think they're reasonably priced. If there is enough interest, I'll get one and have my IT person (16 year old daughter) install it. Who knows; it could lead to fame and celebrity on YouTube!

I hope that ends up in a happy home. I would encourage everyone to send the seller a question and ask "If I'm the high bidder at the end of the auction and pay for the item, are you actually going to ship it out?" :lol:

Consider that done. I sent the seller an email via eBay last night. I think their actions are just despicable. What ever happened to honesty and integrity? This is personal greed, plain and simple. Maybe they'll keep selling it and pulling it back until they get the inflated price that someone else maybe has told them that it's worth. No matter what happens, I certainly feel your frustration and disappointment in getting short changed on this one. It's not right.

Was anyone watching this one? What do you know - an error in the listing. Bet the guy got $50 for it. By the way, I keep a folder of all the auctions I see end early. These tainted gloves will rear their ugly heads again and then...

That's great you are keeping tabs on them JD. The last couple of months I haven't seen too many end early and then boom - all of a sudden, three or four.
