Old style HOH what do you think?

Anything related to gloves (pre-1970) you can post here.

Here's my top 3 Pro6-XTC (or XPG6-H), XPG3 (with either basket web or I-web-H) and HFG-6. I'd really like it if they all had the metal eyelets around the bottom laces too. As clsoe to the originals as possible. You are the Man Bob.
Thanks,

I don't know how much general interest there would be but.....My favorite 1b mitt is the PRO-DCT.

The number one would be a USA 12TC hands down. Other would be any H webs and wing tip backs.

G0 Back to the Old Style HOH & Call It the "Retro S

Postby lnsmdrftr » February 10th, 2008, 1:28 am

I'd really like to see a return to the old style HOH gloves. Not only were they better quality than the current line, but they had a "mystique" about them that was unmistakeable. I can remember my first quality Rawlings glove, a Boog Powell SM6 model as fondly as I remember seeing my first bare bosom on a girl.

One thing they could do to the current HOH lin if they keep them is to get rid of that funky plastic thumb reinforcement piece. It takes all the flexibility out of the Rawlings style that I used to like.

Styles to Bring Back

Postby lnsmdrftr » February 10th, 2008, 1:38 am

I'd like to see the old style XPG3 with the true "I" web, run the web lacing over into the outside of index finger and thumb in the "V" style like the old models too. That helps prevent the tearing that always occurs at the bottom of the index and middle fingers in the pocket I beleive. Next, the PRO-H and the DCT first baseman's mitt would be good ones to bring back.

PRO6TC was the High Water Mark of the Rawlings HOH Line

Postby Earlkfunderburk » February 13th, 2008, 6:12 pm

If Rawlings does reintroduce a vintage series of HOH gloves, I think one should most definitely be the PRO6TC. I think this glove represented to epitome opf that line. I have owned two of them and would buy one for each of my three very young grandkids were they to be reintroduced.

Didn't Eastbay Sport have a retro line of Rawlings gloves a few years back?

Bob,

I would vote for the HOH PRO-IHFB Model you were suppose to be able to get for me last year. I was finally able to pick one up on ebay, after looking for over 2 years.

k?
yes they did but the orient really messed them up. Besides dumping all thier 10 year old hoh leather on me. all the patterns were changed to suit them I wanted the 12 tc. pro 1000 and xpg 3 and never got close ( why most of my hair is gone and why I want to do it here)

Docglov,

I had one of those Eastbay retro gloves that said "assembled in the USA" - a PRO 1000 with a "V shaped" H web... I resold it because I found it too heavy. Was this due to the type of leather they used? Would these new gloves you are talking about have light/strong leather?

Thanks!

Yes they will be much lighter and a little softer The "V" bottom H web was just one of the problems. The holes were there so had to use them

Would there be any tanning involved on these gloves? I'm not to keen on old models since i'm a modernist when it comes to gloves but how about some smaller sizes theres to many big gloves out on the market and they seem to get bigger and bigger (almost softball size). 11 1.4 model would be nice with a single post or a solid one piece like (biggios).

Bringing back the old gloves is a great idea. I'd love to see some XPG-3's with a basket web, Pro-T's and Pro-H's in a natural color with the metal eyelets and of course "Made In The USA" stamped in the palm. I'd love to see the round "R" included with this special run.

I think bringing back the older models is a great idea for instance I have always been a huge Greg Nettles fan and have always tried to find out the model Rawlings game glove that he used in 77-78 with the Yankees and can't find out so if you could have a list of players game gloves along with the remakes it would be great for guys that want a certain players glove not just his autographed model. Thanks Ralph
