Heart of the HORSEHIDE?

Horsehide leather was frequently used during the 1920s and 1930s for baseball gloves and this leather was a durable, slightly stiffer leather than cowhide, or that's the was it has seemed to me. By 1940s the leather had disappeared from glove use, whether because of the war or from seldom use and need of draft horses (to pull wagons, etc.)
I'd owned this glove for more than 12 years but never had noticed the little logo of a horse rearing on its high legs over the words "Genuine Horsehide" on the top of the palm side of this baseman mitt. There are no other markings on the mitt.
Glove features like bucklebacks also disappeared on gloves about this same time.

I am 99.9% positive that your glove is of the Des Moines Manufacturing Co....We have a bat and a few 1" webs from the 20's with the same logo of the rearing horse...Nice looking glove!!! Hope this info helps...Talk to you later....Josh
