Wondering why this one hasn't sold yet. It seems pretty nice to me. Web fingers, celluloid button and all. It's been a long time and may not in the right ebay category. You might want to check it out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/145628074205

Someone went through a lot of trouble keeping this mitt in service. It's not easy hand sewing through two thick layers of leather and they did a neat job. The mitt itself is one of the higher end Reach Decker Patent models from the teens-twenties.

A Nokona softball glove as a BIN on ebay. The player added a finger extension to give them that extra edge in a game.

A clever repair of what looks like a D&M mitt with the thumb section from a Ken-Wel mitt.

A homemade target mitt circa 1917. It's actually a rare Wally Schang model EG in blond leather recently sold as a BIN on ebay. Removing that paint would not be an easy job.

Results of the cleaning by a collector. They carefully used sandpaper to remove the paint. Turned out great. What I took to be blond leather was in reality just a super dry mitt untended for decades.

An interesting BIN from ebay. Sold as a child's catchers mitt, it seems to me more like a handball glove/mitt. The wrist strap is a Stall & Dean design from the 1940's.

An oddity from the baseball gloves and mitts section of ebay. The mitt is to be worn on the left hand. It sold for a BIN of 8 bucks. It look like it had some sort of military application. 7th division written along the top.

This one from ebay still for sale at $160. A nice looking mitt. Looks to be of real good quality.

There was a brand logo in the palm but I couldn't figure it out for a while. Finally got it though. The logo reads "From Rayls". It's an Association model sold through Rayls Hardware in Detroit. Rayls began in 1873 and by the time of this mitt had branched out to include tools. cutlery, machinery, kitchenry and athletics.

The mitt is identical to this Norman brand Association model base mitt. I couldn't find any info online about the Norman Brand. Even Joe's catalog source book doesn't include Norman as a retailer. My best guess is Norman and Rayls possibly used Denkert Sporting goods as a supplier.

This is interesting Mike. I had never heard of another instance of Rayls until now. I have a T.B. Rayl Co. full web from Detroit, Michigan below. So you think this regional company used Denkert to make them, huh? If so, then that would put this full web on the front side of Denkert cuz they started manufacturing gloves in the 20's, right? We as a hobby haven't seen anything earlier from Denkert. I wouldn't think they would have produced gloves for other companies so early in their glove making infancy. Who knows. Here's a history of the T.B. Rayl Co.:

That's a neat glove Jim. The "Ironclad" trademark on the patch is pretty cool. I found an 1913 ad for baseballs from Rayls with the "Ironclad" trademark. It's probable Rayl's began using Denkert sometime in the 1920's and used some other supplier before that.

An interesting import. A 1940-50's Zenith brand base mitt. It's stamped "General Rawlings Professional Model".

An ambidextrous base mitt made by Jelinek sold as a BIN on ebay. The mitt is pretty much flawless. The Jelinek company formed in Czechoslovakia in 1855. The company was nationalized and the principals escaped to Canada during the communist regime in 1948. The new North American company was started and prospered throughout Canada and the USA and began expanding into other countries.
