Good glove photos are tough to find

lol. I don't know if she was a mom, but I'm pretty sure she had a mom. Babe Didrikson with a Bill Doak glove and Jimmy Foxx, who probably had a mom too.

I don't know what year this photo was taken. Joe Gordon was a rookie in 1938. All I know is that I really want that glove to be his Marathon model. Maybe?

One more look at Lefty Grove's laced fingers Reach. He's using this glove in almost all the photo's I find. He also used a D&M 3 finger, but I've found only a couple of photo's of it.

He hung onto that glove for a long time, eventually giving it to a neighbor in his home town.

Another great southpaw, Lefty Gomez, used the D&M Lutzke from the beginning and into his years with the Yankees. He pitched for the San Francisco Seals in 1929 and signed with NY in 1930.





One of his gloves sold at auction for $10.8K a few years ago.



Many pro players used his top of the line endorsed Wilson gloves. As a Wilson rep he played a large part in getting their feedback on a new glove in development, the A2000. Here he is with Johnny Podres.

Wow. That's a great video and Honus still had the skills. I was surprised by the amount of views and all the comments by fans of vintage baseball. Very cool.
I've been reading a book about the 1944 St Louis Browns. No shortage of characters on that team. By that time, the gloves are starting to look pretty alike. But I found one interesting exception. Here's the starting pitchers, all right handers. The one on the end, Jack Kramer, has a Rainey trap web. I can't find any manufacturer who was still making them and it's the only one I've seen that has the Wilson patented seams down the center of the fingers. So idk. Thank you Mr. Kramer for using such an interesting glove.

Great photo's Mike. So he still had that glove or a version of it in 1948-49 with the Red Sox. The glove makers were pretty accommodating back then I guess.

Phil Rizzuto with a wide Rainey web in 1942. Sorry about the low resolution photo. 1940 was the last year that Spalding listed a Rainey web in their catalog, one with the flex form finger seams. No idea when Hutch or George Reach discontinued them. I've found more photo's of 1930's players using them that I'll post next time. Seems it was a popular glove with the pro's.

The Rainey webs are great gloves…I have a Spalding Pro-Form, came from Mike’s collection actually…it’s a massive glove, high quality leather, top of the line!! I can see why a lot of pros would have loved them as well;)
