Big Glove

While organizing some pictures on the hard drive I came across this one from the National in 2002. It's my brother with an oversized Rawlings George McQuinn claw glove. If I remember correctly, the seller wanted $700 for it. Should have bought it!

That would be perfect for the folks in the Chicago area who play 16" softball!

Something like that would be cool to have in a collection. I would love to get my hands on the 48" pattern Rawlings glove I saw at Jacobs Field (there's a picture posted on the "Glove Pictures" thread).

The Nokona web site used to have (before their recent update) a shot of an oversized glove they use as a promotional item that travels along with the famed Nokona "Glovemobile".

Akadema actually offers a giant "gag glove" for sale. It is a 24" pattern glove and can be yours for only $150!

I need that for my low grounders

Hadn't seen this one before. Dave Jackson in Washington state, a long time glover, had a couple of oversize gloves that he had found. And I have a shot of two giant gloves worn by Lefty Grove and Mickey Cochrane on the 1930s tour of Japan and made by the Japanese. Had not heard of this McQuinn trapper big Mac before. Great shot. Shoulda pulled the trigger!!

There is a local collector from our area I know that has a 1" web very similar in size to this trapper....Haven't seen him in awhile, but next time I do maybe I need to ask him if his needs a new home ....Are they really rare?? What were they used for??

I won this photo on eBay last week - it is great (sorry about the picture - didn't have scanner handy). The caption states this glove is being held by Mrs. Dave Bancroft and would later be presented to Nick Altrock, Funny man of baseball, by Ed Maynard! Unfortunately the picture is not dated but it says that she is the wife of Boston Braves manager Dave Bancroft, which would date it to 1924 to 1927. Wonder if there is a giant D&M patch on the back?

That is exactly what his looks like!!! Wonder if it is the same one??? Guess it would be hard to say without knowing how many of these giants were made

Does anyone remember that giant Wilson A2000 that sold on eBay a couple of years ago?

Supposedly it hung in their Chicago factory.

I can't remember what it went for...but I remember thinking that it went for too little of an amount.

Another one from "The Land of the Giants" was a Hillerich & Bradsby Babe Ruth bat that sold on eBay a few years ago. It was an exact replica of a Ruth bat (BR40, maybe?) only the thing was about six feet long.

If I'm remembering correctly, it too was said to have come from a store display and sold for around $700.

I'd forgotten about Baseball Clown Nick Altrock having one of the giant gloves. I've got a picture of him using it somewhere.

I have a Rawlings promo newsletter from the 60's with the Musial SM6 glove, and for the promotion of that glove they made a Huge one for it as well.

When I get around to it I will try to scan and post some pics
