Well, if you discount Albert Spalding and maybe Arthur Irwin who created his padded model for Draper Maynard, then I can recall an early Spalding ad where (last name) Jones, is what I remember and the endorsement wasn't stamped into the glove but with a hang tag, stating the endorsement. That's from a dim memory.
