Can anyone give me the years that the Rawlings Marty Marion MM split finger glove was made? Thanks.

That's a good question. Catalog information for years during WWII is pretty tough to come by. So much leather was going to the war effort (as were the gloves themselves) that I wonder if sporting goods catalogs had very small print runs. Joe's Catalog Source Book shows the MM with Merrill May's endorsement and Marion's model as the G600 in 1943. There is a gap until 1947 and no MM model is listed in '47. Maybe the Marion MM was made during those years, 1944-46? Most of the ones I've seen have Special Services or other military stamping on them.

Greg's right on the little mystery of the Marrion "MM" model. I think it came out in the wartime years, when Rawlings was very limited to producing retail gloves like the other
sporting goods manufacturers who were turning out military gloves and items and were prohibited. The MMs I remember seem to be the wartime service models : U. S. Army, U.S. Navy and maybe some that came out retail in 1946 and '47 like OKdoke says. The G600 Marion was a very popular kids glove in the latter '40s. Mantle got one as a kid.
Happy New Year to Every One! :D

Thanks for the replies. The one I saw was a "US" stamped model (my collecting niche) that had a solid webbing.
