Rawlings Heritage Series Glove

I recently acquired a Rawlings Heritage Glove and was wondering if anyone can tell me about this glove based on its markings. On the pinky, it reads XPG2MTCS. On the thumb there are 4 dots.

Any information would be appreciated.

Sorry I can't give you some information on that glove, as I am not personally familiar with that model number.

Some general comments on the Heritage series: When these gloves were first introduced, they were of very high quality. The models sold in the late 90's to early 2000's retailed for about $140, slotting them between the Gold Glove series and the Pro-Preferred models. I would compare them to the similarly priced Nokona AMG-series gloves from that same era in quality and construction.

In fact, I bought one- the XFG125S, which was supposed to be a softball-specific model- with the intent of using it as a gamer. Only the thing was so gosh darn nice that I didn't want to get it dirty and only used it to play catch a couple of times!

In the early 2000's, the Heritage line-up was cheapened, using lower quality materials and there was a corresponding drop of the retail price to around $80.

The models from the past couple of years seem to have taken a jump in quality and materials, and the price has also jumped to around $100.

Thanks for the info. It's very well made, has the Rawlings American Flag patch, also, Made in USA. I love the glove, the kind you slip on your hand with such a nice natural fit.

I'm pretty sure that the ones with the "flag" patch are the earlier, better quality versions, and also the only ones made in the USA.

They're great gloves. If I can find another one on the cheap I would use it as a gamer!

But I'm not sure what year the 4-dots mean either...Anyone...I understand the blackhorse system, just not the dot system.

Anyway, Just above the Rawlings stamp on the heel it should say "Made in the USA" right, kenyon?

Not sure it they are Horween leather. Hows it feel?

Great images of the leather, and BretMan's statement on how it's in the same class of the AMG Nokonas is very interesting because the leather sort of resembles the leather on my 90's BM-76... just a little darker

The glove came in yesterday, so I gave it a cleaning with Horseman's One Step with warm water, then I took the blow dryer to it so I could re-shape it the way I wanted. Then I followed it with a light dab of Lexol Leather conditioner....

I'm going to do a complete re-lace and add an internal leather palm pad. Anywhoo this glove feels like the Japanese Mizuno's from the 80's.... soft but yet stiff..... Really doesn't feel like a 4-dot Rawlings for some reason. I have an HOH USA PRO-2MTC that looks like the same glove, but has an entirely different feel. I think it will go into retiremnt once that comes back from the shop.
