Vintage Glove on Auction Hunters

Although I really don't like the show, I tuned in to watch the "vintage glove" episode tonight. They have a vintage 1B mitt (tag looks like a reach or d&m) that is supposedly signed by Joe Jackson. Yeah, right. The guy they brought it to was smart enough to say the autograph was bogus but said the glove was worth $600! Good luck getting $100 for it! Too funny.

Yeah, saw it. No way that mitt was worth $600. The dealer was quick to quote that the signature couldn't be real because he was illiterate. Yeah, we know but who's to say he didn't know how to sign his name in his thirty years after baseball. He didn't die til 1951 for heaven's sake. Betcha anything he knew how to sign his name before he died at age 64. Still, I don't think it was good but not for the reason he said. Always fun to see a vintage glove on TV though.

I agree that it is totally cool to see a vintage glove on TV. I'm just curious to the prices these guys get for their items. Either the buyers are really dumb or they are just setting it up to look better on the show - that is my guess.
