The most recent has been Marty "Slats" Marion -- the shortstop magician of the 1940s -- and who can forget his retail "Mr. Shortstop" G600 gloves that were so popular during that decade.
Many a kid was thrilled at Christmas to get the "Mr. Shortstop" model. First one I picked up had "Paul Bunyan" leather!
