YO! At yesterday's Connie Mack Chapter's Hot Stove in McGillin's, our
server said her father owns a glove which he says used to be Pete
Gray's, the one-armed player for the St. Louis Browns during WWII. A
quick glance at baseball.reference.com reveals Gray used his left arm
for hitting, throwing and fielding--which means his glove could be a
"normal" glove for right-handed throwers, i.e., on the left hand.
Other net searches shows that he used an unpadded and specially-made
glove and that a glove of his is in Cooperstown. Does anyone know if
he possessed more than one glove? And, does anyone know who made his
gloves?
The above is an email I received from a SABR friend, and I thought I would post it here. If anyone has information to share, I will gladly pass it on.
Thanks in advance,
Ken
