I won an Edd J Rousch glove

I have been around for awhile but I am not near as learned as most of you here. I started collecting back in the mid 90'[s and have some great gloves that I love. Recently I purchased a glove on ebay because it had the Dazzy Vance model lacing on the fingers. It is a small buckle back glove and everything is intact. In the listing it had no specifics other than it had some distinct black marker which I can lighten so I bought it. When cleaning I have come to learn it is endorsed by "Edd J Rousch". The model number is light but I am looking at possibly 300 for the number. The glove is in pretty good shape for the time period I think it may be.

I know many of you have been around longer than me in the glove collecting business so I was wanting to get an opinion as to what I may have to know whether I need to clean more and list or just hang onto a HOF glove.

Hi, Fungo (my old eBay buddy)!

Sounds like a nice pick up. Any way you could post some pictures?

My copies of Ken-Wel catalogs indicate that model 551 glove was endorsed by Eddie Roush in 1928, 31 and 32. This model mitt has a small sewn web plus a loop web between the thumb and fore finger only. The 1928 catalog unveils the 542 "laced back" model with Rousch's name, touting it by saying "The patented feature of the Ken-Wel glove insures a deeper formed pocket and eliminates all possibility of the ball striking a seam. It is built of the same grade of horsehide as used in the Dazzy Vance. The same tailor-made pad and custom built construction is carried throughtout this glove. It is an especially designed deep greased pocket, laced heel, and welted seam. Leather bound, full lined, with the Never Rip patented back and a special patented combination laced web. Glove is broken in and ready for play." All yours for $6.00. The Dazzy Vance Pro 560 sells for $8.50, and the "Famous Vance Model" goes for $7.00. The 1938 catalog has the same model number with basically the same description but not endorsed by Roy Hughes.
