Guys, check out this cool note I got today. He said I could share it with the glove guys. - JD

Ken Staples is my Father. Do you have this glove for sale?
I would like him to have it.
Thanks,
Dan Staples
Hi Dan,
That is so cool. I have one Ken Staples mitt left in my collection. I sold
off all my other ones and kept my nicest one. The pics are attached. I
never thought about selling it as I collect Nokona gloves and this was my
keeper. I would let it go if you have any interest. Thanks.
Jim
Jim,
THANK YOU !
I am his youngest son at 47, and I just took my Dad to dinner Tuesday night
for his 84th birthday. My Dad met my Mom in Ft.Worth while playing for the
Cats and Army ball during the Korean War.
My Dad kept only one mitt from those days, and about 40 years ago, when he
was coaching Cooper High school ball in New Hope MN., his catcher lost his
mitt, and could not afford to buy a new one. My Dad went home in the attic
and pulled out his old mitt to let this kid use it, only to never get it
back again.
About 10 years ago, living at his lake place...board....he started managing
a town ball league in Osceola, WI.
Everyone there fell in love with him, and a group of them did in fact buy a
glove for him, but your looks nice, and I would love to have a couple of his
mitts in the family. I am going to give him this mitt to put in his condo
down in Ft.Myers. He is still active with the Twins, and life friends with
the Mauer family. Joe will get a kick out of seeing this.
What a great collection you have.
Let's make the deal.
Should I send you a check?
Do you want visa card # ?
Let me know how you want to do this.
Jim. Thank you so much,
Dan Staples
P.S. Mom give me a call after you read this.
Dan, that is such a neat story. I'm happy to help. I'm a big Nokona glove
collector and fan and I got familiar with a lot of Nokona's endorsers as
well as the Fort Worth Cats players by reading a book by Joe Phillips
entitled "75 Years Nokona Ball Gloves a Texas Tradition". Below is a link
to one of his eBay auctions. I highly recommend it for your dad as he would
probably know most of the guys and fellow teammates referenced within.

I occasionally get contacted by relatives of ball players whose gloves I
have and helping them find one is so much fun and gives me so a lot of
satisfaction. I get a kick out of it. I sure hope he enjoys it. I'll keep
my eyes peeled for others as most of the lesser condition models can be had
in the $40-$60 range.
Since many glove collectors know of Ken Staples and can relate to his Nokona
catchers mitt models, would you mind if I shared your story with other glove
collectors? They will all be glad to know he is doing well.
You can send a check to me at the office at:
If you send me your address, I can get it out in tomorrow's mail. Thanks
again Dan.
