Most memorable use of a baseball glove in a movie

Two come to mind: first is the third "Alien" movie "Alien Resurrection" . Some member of the space ship crew was experiencing mental disorientation and the medical staff was giving him/her a visual recognition test and one of the images was a 1900's crescent pad fielders glove. If you don't believe me, rent the movie. It was weird. The second is "Good Will Hunting" and Casey Affleck's character using his brothers glove in an unorthodox way. I won't go into the details. It was pretty funny though. Please add your favorites!

I think we've chatted about movie gloves before, sort of a non-baseball film that utilizes glove and some catch. Seems the most memorable is Steve McQueen's character in "The Great Escape" using his
glove and a ball when he's thrown into his solitary cell and bouncing a baseball off his cell wall.
As a big fan of the movie "Shawshank Redemption" I get a kick out of prisoner "Red" played by Morgan Freeman playing catch, noting that Freeman is a left hand thrower and that he's got a pretty good glove for prisoner. I wondered if they ever plunked a guard. No bats though, ha!
I'll try to remember some others where a glove and maybe some toss is incidentally brought into a non-baseball flick.

It's a long time ago, but I still remember the young Robert DeNiro and his catcher's mitt in Bang The Drum Slowly. Great cast in that movie with Michael Moriarty as the pitcher.

Marvelous book by Mark Harris and sequel to his "The Southpaw". Paul Newman played a leading role in the earlier T.V. version in U.S. Steel Hour presentation in the 1950s I think.

I concur with Red and Shawshank Redemption - great movie and fun to see the old glove in there. Another movie I enjoy (and I'm probably the only one on earth) is Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story - there is a scene at the end where is he trying to reconcile with his numerous children/grandchildren and is playing catch with all of them. Although they got the wrong era gloves for the scene it still cracks me up.

As for TV scenes, I particularly enjoyed the Lost episode where Richard gives Locke some items to choose from (hoping he'll pick the compass) and one of them was the baseball glove. Richard and I were both deflated when he picked the knife (but for different reasons). Also, classic Simpsons exchange:

Homer: You know, when I was a boy I really wanted a catcher's mitt, but my dad wouldn't get it for me. So I held my breath until I passed out and banged my head on the coffee table. The doctor thought I might have brain damage.
Bart: Dad, what's the point of this story?
Homer: I like stories.

Here's an oddball one, but I'm sure that all of our Casper the Friendly Ghost enthusiasts remember it. In the Casper movie our ghostly hero finds the "treasure" he misplaced years ago. It turns out to be a box with his favorite things from when he was a living boy (actually very sad when you think about it) inside of it, one of them being his baseball glove, a fat fingered 1940's model. If I remember right, he also had a ball that was autographed by his favorite player, Duke Snider. My daughter loved this movie when she was little and I watched it with her many times. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it...
I thought of two memorable gloves from classic books: The glove from "A Catcher in the Rye" that Holden Caulfield's brother wrote poetry on and the Wilson A2000 that Roger Kahn had the players autograph for him when he interviewed them for "The Boys of Summer". I'd love to see a picture of that glove.
That scene from "The Great Escape" where Steve McQueen is thrown his glove and ball while he defiantly marches to the "cooler" is indeed a classic, Joe. Also my favorite cameo by a glove in a movie.
