Military Issues?

Postby Smokey Burgess » April 23rd, 2010, 4:23 pm

I saw these three gloves today in an antique store. From what little I know about antique gloves, I'm pretty sure these are military issues. I would like to hear comments on desirability, rarity and value range. Sorry, no photos. Thanks!

1. Rawlings, fielders glove, Martin Marion endorsed, model MM1 (?) US 10-45 is stamped on the strap. Needs cleaning, a bit stiff, but shows virtually no wear.

2. Nokona, fielder's glove, US 10 5 is stamped on the strap. Needs cleaning, a bit stiff, but shows virtually no wear.

3. Wilson, first baseman's glove, model 555 (?), marked Professional high in the pocket area, Special Services - US Army on the heel where the glove flexes.

Yes, they sound like military issues from the WWII era. There is a market for them but they are not rare - tons of them out there. There was a Marion on eBay last week that went for a good (and shocking to me) price.
