Dick Groat Ebay Mystery

Postby softball66 » January 12th, 2010, 10:03 am

I'm often amazed at some of the better prices generated for the now middle run '50 and '60s autograph gloves, which I think have suffered through proliferation resulting through ebay.
This is one of those: a "Left Handed" throw Dick Groat Rawlings glove in . . . well. . .fair shape but this glove drew 18 bids, albeit penny ante, stair-step bids. But what's the appeal
for what normally would have sold for $5 or $10? I've seen this early dollar, stair step bidding on gloves I've offered from time to time.

That dollar at a time bidding always seems odd to me too. I wonder if anyone would have bid on it if the opening bid price was $30? Quite awhile back I watched another common mid-line Rawlings that had a low opening amount and a $30 BIN option. Umpteen bids later the lucky seller got over $60 for it! Have to admit that it is fun to watch sometimes. :?

This one just became more mysterious, Joe. Now it's been relisted as a $25 BIN. :?

So the same glove...according to the 3 pictures and the description sold for $32.00 on January 11 and then sold at a BIN price of $25 on January 12. :?: :?: :?:
