Are your favorite gloves like Lays Potato Chips?

Postby czog32 » December 7th, 2009, 1:16 am

My point is does anyone else find themselves picking up multiple gloves of the same model for no other reason then they really like them. I just added a third TG-12 and have 3 MM's and can't seem to have enough of them.

Thoughts?

At first, I had a Noah's ark thing going on with collecting bookends or pairs, but was always asking myself "Why the heck do I have 2 of these?"
So, I decided to have a Baskin Robbins type selection with much more variety. Unfortunately, many of my friends want to take my flavors!

I do have to admit it's funny though when collectors have many gloves of the same model and have them cocooned in their ziplock bags put away in tubs. When I see these I feel like I'm at a morgue with body bags or involved in some type of illegal drug deal with all those baggies!

I have some models that I have multiples of - most of them are from different years so they may have slight differences.

Ricky, it's funny that you mention cocooned gloves because I just got one of those in a trade. It was telling me how nice it feels to be out in the fresh air surrounded by it's fellow OK brethren. 8)

OK, Mr. Bulldog that one hit pretty close to home, which I suspect may have been its intended target. Hi, my name is Rob and I am an admitted cocooner.

Internally, I tell myself that I'm looking for for upgrades, a variation, or trade-bait but some models are out of control. Good luck getting me not to bid on a dang nice looking Elmer Riddle for crying out loud! Anyway, don't ask me why I still go after mutiple Vances, Riddles, Doaks, and dang Pete Reisers, given that I will likely never be able to upgrade the ones I have, but I still get a kick out of receiving them. I say all this and I must admit that I have a big smile on my face from yet another nice Ken-Wel Harry Brecheen I just received in the mail ... there is no end in sight :-) Anyway, collecting multiple 1" webs -- even with color or size variations is pretty similar, Mr. Bulldog, glass-house-stone-thrower.
