Loss of a Friend

Postby Mr. Mitt » November 9th, 2009, 3:31 pm

It’s with deep sadness that I convey Glenn Davis (rdn3rd) passed away after valiantly battling leukemia. I’ve met many wonderful people through this hobby over the past twenty years and some have become good friends, but none more so than Glenn. My heart goes out to Fran, his sweetheart, and loving daughters who were truly the light of his life. He was a damn good man and I’m sincerely going to miss the old curmudgeon.

That is sad news. I had dealt with Glenn in my early collecting years when he used to sell a lot on Ebay. He was a nice guy and very knowledgeable. He had an eye for very fine baseball collectibles and he will be missed. Jerry, sorry to hear about your close friend. I know you guys were close.

I too am sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. The times I visited him by email for an ebay item he always seemed very nice. Sorry to lose a fellow glover. My sympathy goes to his family.

Thanks for the call Jerry. I'm so sorry to hear about Glenn. I'll miss him. We spent hours and hours and hours on the phone over the years. He knew everybody and seemed to have owned all the great gloves in the hobby at one point or another. Oh the stories he could tell. I especially loved to hear about all of his travels. I bought a lot of gloves from him over the years and every time I put one on, I'll think of him. He will be missed.

I will miss Glenn. Although I have not talked to him in awhile, other than an infrequent e-mail, he was the source of much of the knowledge I have about gloves. He also sold me more gloves than any one other source. He said it was to allow him to travel. He was always fair and honest in his dealings. This is a sad day. Mike Ellis
