Thought it was about time that I joined your group and now is the time for a little introduction. My name is Jim Murphy and I run The Philadelphia Bat Co. Have had the business since 1988 and had been very active in the trade until about 2001-2002 when I became discouraged by all the dealers and collectors who thought they were bigger than the game. They were the celebrities.
A Hall of Fame of Collectors and Dealers. Sorry, I couldn’t stand it.
So I left to pursuer other interests but kept my hand in things by lending my knowledge out to a group of syndicated antique writers who would tell anyone who asked them a baseball question to send a letter to me and I would give them a free appraisal.
Was a subscriber to Joe’s newsletter from I think #3 and kept it for about 10 years. Was a contributor to the letter also. Just joined up again.
Spent many a night in the 90’s talking to Joe about gloves, bats and the hobby.
Interesting, how things are today!
